Are my images uploaded to a server?
No. Every operation runs entirely inside your browser using your device's own processor. Your files never leave your computer, so the tool works even with the page disconnected from the internet after loading.
Does the circle crop have a transparent background?
Yes. The area outside the circle is fully transparent and the result is exported as a PNG, so the round edge looks clean on any background.
Why is the download a PNG and not a JPG?
JPG can't store transparency, so the corners outside the circle would turn white or black. PNG preserves the transparent round edge, which is what you want for avatars.
What size should a round avatar be?
Common sizes are 400×400 or 512×512 pixels. The tool keeps the full resolution of your circular selection, so start from a large enough photo for a crisp result.
