Frequently asked questions
Are my images uploaded to a server?
No. Every operation runs entirely inside your browser using your device's own processor. Your files never leave your computer, so the tool works even with the page disconnected from the internet after loading.
Why does my PNG look sharper at 2× or 3×?
Because an SVG is vector, Kotopig re-renders it at the exact pixel size you choose, so scaling up stays perfectly crisp — unlike enlarging an existing PNG, which blurs.
Does the PNG keep transparency?
Yes. PNG output preserves the SVG's transparent areas. If you pick JPG (which has no transparency), a background colour you choose is filled in instead.
My SVG has no width or height — will it still work?
Yes. Kotopig falls back to the viewBox to determine the aspect ratio, and you can set an explicit output width to get the size you want.
Can I convert SVG to JPG or WebP too?
Yes. PNG is the default for transparency, but you can also export JPG (smallest for photos) or WebP (small and modern).
